Degree-seeking students at Truman may transfer courses from any other
accredited institution (including community colleges) as long as the last 28
hours earned toward graduation are taken at Truman.
Approval Process for Transfer Courses
Students are strongly encouraged to complete a “Pre-Approval of Transfer
Credit” form that is initiated with their academic advisor. The classes
listed on this form must be approved by the advisor, division head of the
student’s major, and the Registrar. The form should be submitted for
approval prior to the student enrolling in the course(s) at another
institution. Click here to find the form:
Pre-Approval of Transfer Credit
Truman will continue to have residency requirements (defined as courses
taken at Truman) for its undergraduate degrees and for its majors to ensure
the integrity of its degrees. Students should check with their academic
advisors for specific major requirements that must be taken at Truman. As
part of their graduation requirements, all students must complete:
• 45 hours at Truman of which 15 must be in their major
• 40 hours of upper division coursework (300 level and up)
• the last 28 hours of their degree program at Truman
Sending Transcripts
Truman students who enroll at any other institution must have official
transcripts sent from the institution directly to the Truman State
University Registrar’s Office as soon as the course is complete. Intentional
nondisclosure of transfer credit by any student immediately after completion
of a course(s) may result in dismissal from Truman State University.
