Example: As of the beginning of the semester, you have attempted 15 honor graded courses and earned 48 honor points. Hence, your cumulative GPA is 3.20. You are currently enrolled in 12 honor graded courses and you want to know what GPA you need to earn this semester to raise your cumulative GPA to 3.25.

Step 1: Calculate your new cumulative attempted honor hours:
Number of attempted honor hours this semester + Cumulative attempted honor hours = New cumulative attempted honor hours	15 +12 27
Step 2: Calculate your total honor points needed
New cumulative attempted honor hours * Desired cumulative GPA = Total cumulative honor points needed	27 * 3.25 87.75
Step 3: Calculate semester honor points needed
Total cumulative honor points needed - Cumulative honor points already earned = Total semester honor points needed	87.75 - 48.00 39.75
Step 4: Calculate desired semester GPA
Total semester honor points needed ÷ Semester honor hours attempted = Desired semester GPA	39.75 ÷12 3.31
